IQ Glass UK - Specialist Glaziers
Architectural Glazing Specialists
It’s our 6th year anniversary and what a transformation we have seen over the years. Originally, the building was an abandoned warehouse in need of the IQ Glass experts to redevelop the entire building. This project stumbled across many challenges throughout the course of its development. Including repairs to a leaky roof and a whole redesign of the internal floorplan to provide space for the design centre and the IQ Glass offices. It took a lot of planning, designing and hard work to turn this derelict building into the luxury design and architectural glazing showroom it is today.
The Sky House Design Centre houses many luxury brands with a broad range of products that require updating as and when required. Due to this, the installation teams are often upgrading parts of the showroom to keep everything up to date. See below the immediate transformation of the design centre and the latest updates in the showroom!
The Sky House was originally a book warehouse and a scrap yard for written-off vehicles. The façade of the building was a peach colour with an elephant and an earth mural across the front of it which wasn’t exactly an attraction to the building. IQ Glass had the vision and was able to turn this outdated property into a much more appealing site.
The entrance to The Sky House Design Centre and IQ Glass offices (Glass Box Extension) was not as inviting as it is today, disused materials filled the area outside the abandoned warehouse.
The Schuco box, adjacent to the Sky House entrance was once a brick extension which the installation team demolished and rebuilt into a light fuelled meeting room, now available for architects to use free of charge.
The IQ Outdoor Living show space to the side of the IQ offices was cluttered with overgrown plants and a large unattractive water tank. This was all cleared and the tank stripped out before installing the aluminium louvre roof system decorated with IQ outdoor living furniture. This space also houses the Carminati meeting room which showcases Grants Blinds and IQ Furniture products. The Carminati Meeting Room is also available for architects to use free of charge!
The Mondrian® External Box was built next to the minimal windows® box and against wired fencing which blocks trespassers coming in from the train tracks. The Mondrian® External Box is manufactured from thermally broken steel framed systems with a Corten effect finish. More recently, however, the Mondrian Box has been replaced with a Sieger Legacy Glazing Box.
The minimal windows® installation has been one of the most successful products at The Sky House Design Centre with its slim sightlines and flush base details. The previous rusty and unstable outbuilding in the courtyard was transformed into a prime part of the luxury architectural glazing showroom. The minimal windows® showroom is an elegant and sought-after part of the design centre with an influx of enquiries still coming through.
