The UK’s slimmest framed sliding door system was put through the extensive testing process to achieve the ‘must-have’ standard security performance, PAS24.  

The minimal windows® sliding glass door system is now one of the only slim framed sliding systems on the market to be PAS24 certified, allowing the slim sliding glass doors to be installed in any new build and extension projects without limitations. Due to having European security certification (W2 RC2) EN 1627, the ultra-slim sliding glass door system was previously not able to be used for specific projects.  

PAS24 is a vigorous testing process to determine if a door or window system is safe against any type of criminal threats, such as burglary. In accordance with Building Regulations Approved Document Q, every single door and window system should have this certification when specified in new build residential projects. A variety of methods and materials are used during the testing process, such as cutting the framing profile, breaking the locks and adding heavy pressure to the framing system. The methods and materials will change depending on if it is a door or window system, but the important thing is that the entire system should be tested as a whole, to make sure the whole door or window has high security performance rather than the individual components.  

PAS24 does not have classes like European testing standards; the system either passes or fails. Doors face a significantly higher pass criteria than windows and therefore, many sliding door systems are marketed as windows rather than doors. minimal windows® sliding glass doors are one of the only slim framed sliding glass doors to achieve the PAS24 security certification. The architecturally designed door system was tested in a 2-pane configuration, with one sliding and one fixed pane. The tested system used toughened glass and the door was 2.7m tall by 3.2m wide, with a type 4 lock.
