Grants Blinds recently completed an Epic project on a Lavish Mansion in Ireland, the BALLYFIN hotel. Nestled in the County of Laois, the BALLYFIN hotel is a beacon of luxury and elegance. The team were asked to create a solution that was fully retractable, so that the beautiful transparency of the design could still be enjoyed when the blinds were open. The Ballyfin Garden Room is a room to relax and enjoy its beautiful surroundings, but was subject to excessive solar gain with no standard shading options available. This is where Grants had the perfect solution. Using traditional French Pinoleum Round weave in a natural finish, following the roof structure, the team were able to design and install a simple yet bespoke system. Working closely with the London designer Colin Orchid and of course the general manager of BALLYFIN, they came up with a beautiful, practical design that would still keep the 19th Century heritage look. Once the concept design had been agreed, Grants Blinds needed to work through all the technical aspects of how everything would work. Each blind had to be templated to fit and follow the curved roof structure making sure not to interfere with the adjacent blinds and had to have rings positioned correctly so that the folds between each of the blinds were aligned. This beautiful new build home, close to the shore on Long Island, was to be the Client’s luxury beach house. UK architect David Russell, designed all windows and doors to be pocket style, disappearing into the walls. In some of the windows, Lutron blinds were concealed within Blindspace boxes behind the curtains, all disappearing when not required. These Blindspace products have the additional benefit of being plastered in during construction for minimal visual impact. Much consideration was given to concealment and where possible the curtains also opened out of sight, into their own wall pockets. All Lutron curtain tracks were flush-mounted using TrackTrim by Blindspace, including a number of curved tracks. The result is an elegant and seameless shading system using hidden doors and discreet shading to connect to the outdoors.
Made using narrow strips of woven wood taken from sustainable sources and can be custom painted to any paint colour. The natural filtered light effect together with it’s inherent insulation properties and suitability for awkward shaped areas has made French Pinoleum the perfect traditional choice for Garden Rooms.
A Wimbledon house has been transformed to meet the demands of today’s lifestyle. The house was completely refurbished and included a rear extension as well as pushing up the attic to create maximum living space. Traditional wooden windows were used for the front and main elevations in a crisp mint green colour.IQ Glass sliding and pocket doors together with Mondrian glazing were installed in the extended living areas. Grants Blinds designed, specified, and supplied Blindspace concealment products where possible and used Silent Gliss blinds and curtain products for the main installations to complete this beautiful home.
