Grants Blinds Complete Epic Project on Lavish Mansion in Ireland

12 August 2024

The team at Grants Blinds recently completed an Epic project on a Lavish Mansion in Ireland, the BALLYFIN hotel. Nestled in the County of Laois, the BALLYFIN hotel is a beacon of luxury and elegance.

The team were asked to create a solution that was fully retractable, so that the beautiful transparency of the design could still be enjoyed when the blinds were open. The Ballyfin Garden Room is a room to relax and enjoy its beautiful surroundings, but was subject to excessive solar gain with no standard shading options available. This is where Grants had the perfect solution.

Using traditional French Pinoleum Round weave in a natural finish, following the roof structure, the team were able to design and install a simple yet bespoke system. Working closely with the London designer Colin Orchid and of course the general manager of BALLYFIN, they came up with a beautiful, practical design that would still keep the 19th Century heritage look.

Once the concept design had been agreed, Grants Blinds needed to work through all the technical aspects of how everything would work. Each blind had to be templated to fit and follow the curved roof structure making sure not to interfere with the adjacent blinds and had to have rings positioned correctly so that the folds between each of the blinds were aligned.
