Contemporary Kitchen Renovation at Griffin Road

1 November 2017

Here’s another great kitchen design from Watermark Kitchens! The highly stylised kitchen was created with a contemporary aesthetic for one of their current client’s house on Griffin Road.

Handleless kitchens like this are becoming increasingly popular due to their sleek and minimal design. When the designers at Watermark are looking to incorporate a handleless there are various ways this can be done depending on the cabinet location and the personal preference of the customer.

“There are a number of different ways you can incorporate handle less cabinetry into your kitchen design,” says Max from Watermark Kitchens. “One way is by using overhead cabinet doors that hang further than the cabinet itself so you are able to hook your hand underneath and pull it open. You can then have a completely handleless kitchen design with continuous rails that are built into the cabinet. These rails sit behind each door and drawer front, creating a space for you to grip and open them. This in particular can create a sleek design as each cabinet front can have a different colour, so when opened you get a range of colour.”

The Design

The new kitchen design is open and becomes part of the ground floor living spaces. With light coloured cabinetry the natural light from the rear glazing and ground floor windows reflects throughout the space even though the kitchen isn’t afforded any direct windows.

For this project on Griffin Road Watermark incorporated this design tactic to create the seamless cabinet design. The cabinet doors were finished in a white matt lacquer with a contrasting black granite worktop. In the centre of the kitchen, the breakfast bar was finished with a wood veneer worktop which gives the kitchen some additional texture.

The Appliances

Multiple products by Neff were installed including a 900mm gas hob to create extra cooking space within the kitchen as well as a Caple wine cooler fridge to cater for entertaining guests and enjoying the luxurious kitchen that has been created.

A Neff combination microwave oven was installed for quicker and more convenient cooking in a smaller space. Allowing the kitchen to have more open space for the homeowner to use.
