In the heart of Marlow, a quaint town within the rolling countryside of Buckinghamshire stood a spacious family home in need of a little TLC. The homeowners of the property sought the help of three of the Sky House Design Centre exhibitors who merged their expertise together to create a kitchen design packed full of character and charm.
Kitchens are probably the most used room in your home, so it's imperative that this space is designed to enjoy spending time in - not just a functional room. A kitchen design you'll love for years is of the highest importance as it really is the heart of the home. From hosting dinner parties and entertaining guests, to family mealtimes and helping the children with their homework, the kitchen serves a whole range of purposes.
When designing a kitchen it is important to consider the practicalities at an early stage, for example; is there going to be an island in the kitchen (and if so - how the electrics and drainage need to be connected), how many plug sockets are needed, which appliances will be used around the kitchen and where will they be stored etc.
Once the practicalities have been considered, we can then begin to start thinking about aesthetics. The kitchen is the 2nd most used room that we all spend most of our time in, so we need to be able to enjoy this space. There are so many designs to choose from, from contemporary and modern designs to more traditional and rustic kitchen designs. The task of choosing a design best suited to your family life can be daunting, therefore with the help of experienced designers, you can gain a plethora of advice to guide you on your kitchen renovation journey.
The homeowners of this property in Marlow sought expert advice from Watermark, Exterior Solutions and Decorum to conjugate industrial, chic and contemporary styles.
Max Brown from Watermark said:
"We chose these finishes because the client wanted to have a timeless look with a few contemporary, industrial-chic twists. She allowed us to lead the design with a collaboration of styles. This isn't a single themed kitchen; it certainly has a few secrets."
The Caesar porcelain tiles for this project are by Exterior Solutions Ltd, whom have a large showroom display within the Sky House Design Centre in Amersham. Exterior Solutions provide a full consultation service to take an initial concept from "I want these tiles for my kitchen" to a fully considered design, colour palette and direction for the flooring installation. Showroom Consultant Venetia advised the client and Watermark on the colour and texture to marry the Caesar Ceramiche porcelain floor tiles with a complete kitchen design.
The porcelain tiles chosen for this project were designed in a 'wood effect' herringbone pattern to complement the overall kitchen design arrangement and add a luxurious finish to the kitchen. The soft tones of the flooring blend elegantly with the "Sulking Room Pink" Farrow and Ball paintwork.
The team worked closely with the client to achieve the exact kitchen design she dreamed of, from the Farrow and Ball paintwork to the brick slip wall 'splash back' and handle-less shaker cabinetry. She said:
"My new kitchen was purchased and installed by Watermark and I cannot praise them enough for both the quality of the kitchen and the service I received throughout the entire process. It was project managed extremely smoothly from start to finish; any minor hitches along the way were dealt with efficiently and quickly by the Watermark team".
