Contrasol are a design driven solar shading company providing a plethora of highly functional solar shading systems that also enhance the aesthetics of any building façade. Contrasol offers an end to end service from initial concept through to installation, to ensure that each element of the design is to the highest standards.
With large apertures of glazing comes the heat, light and glare factors that can affect the atmosphere within the internal living spaces. Contrasol has a broad selection of solar shading systems (Brise Soleil, Louvres, walkways and canopies can be offered.
Brise Soleil (sun-breaker in French) is a method of solar shading that is designed using perforated screens or strips of material to shut out direct or excessive sunlight. Contrasol have a whole selection of Brise Soleil systems including Timber, Aluminium and Glass. Each system is manufactured bespoke to the requirements of the project to create the desired aesthetic; the fins can be designed either horizontally or vertically.
The Timber Brise Soleil creates a natural finish to the external face of properties. The wide range of timber species to choose from means that there are various wood colours to choose from to create a design that is in keeping with the aesthetic of the building.
Aluminium Brise Soleil creates a contemporary aesthetic to the external face of buildings. There are a wide selection of fin profiles ranging from 60mm wide to 600mm wide, different sizes can be used depending on the level of solar shading required. If the level of solar shading is going to be adjusted depending on the changing level of direct sunlight each day, then the fins can be motorised.

Glass fins can be used to diffuse the level of natural light penetrating into the building. The glass fins still allow light to pass through but reduce the level of direct light and therefore reduces the solar gain (radiant heat). The fins can be decorated with coloured interlayers or frit patterns for a decorative design to the external face of the property.
Sliding shutters are a popular method of solar shading as the screen can be moved to the location where shading is required depending on the location of the sun. The sliding shutters can be sliding, fixed, bifolding or motorised. The top hung sliding solar shading shutter screens have an aluminium profile which holds the wooden or aluminium fins.
Contrasol also has louvre solar shading options which can cover large expanses of glazing. These louvres can be used for water resistance and acoustic reduction as well as solar shading.
